REXY TSENG (TAIWAN)
Rexy Tseng (1986) is an artist and software developer. His art practice derives from the dark humor and unrequited desires found within contemporary living conditions.
Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan until the age of thirteen, Tseng relocated to the United States to further his education. He received a BFA in Art with a minor in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University in 2009. Then, in 2010 he attended UCLA's graduate program in Design Media Arts on scholarships but left to work full-time in 2012. Professionally, Tseng has written software for media companies in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. From 2013 to 2017 he was employed as an engineer at Mashable, a U.S. media site. In 2017, Tseng left the workspace for University of Oxford in England, where he attended as a MFA student at the Ruskin School of Art. Rexy Tseng extends his creative practice internationally, having had multiple exhibitions in in the U.S., Germany, Hungary, Finland, Iceland, Japan, and Taiwan. He has received awards and recognition from Taipei City Government, Pittsburgh Technology Council, Taipei Free Art Fair, and others. CHARLOTTE CLERMONT (CANADA)
Charlotte Clermont is interested in the moving image and the possible connection between the treatment of her materials and the themes which she explores. Working with VHS, MiniDV, Super8 and surveillance camera, the visual quality of her images, often dreamy and misty, tends to capture the complexity of her relationship towards people and her environment. Her videos are part of an oneiric universe and raises questions about her own emotional and psychological development. By reappropriating the image through analog manipulations and distortions, she subtly reveals a fragmented and non-linear narrative thread, where tension, intimacy, mystery and daily life coexist.
Graduated from Concordia University with a BFA in Studio Arts, her work has been presented in Canada and internationally (Biennale Itoshima Arts Farm, Les Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois, Festival Oodaaq, European Media Art Festival, Montreal Underground Film Festival). She has participated in audiovisual performances in Montreal (Nuit Blanche, Suoni Per Il Popolo, Jeunesse Cosmique, mercredimusics) and Kuala Lumpur (KLEX Experimental Film, Video and Music Festival). Her videos are distributed by Videographe, Video Out and Winnipeg Film Group. Supported by:
